Movies pitting two popular horror franchises (villains, whatever) against each other have been done before. But Sadako Vs. Kayako, a supernatural teen horror movie co-produced by Universal and Sadakaya was the final antagonist of the 2016 crossover horror film Sadako vs. Kayako. She is the demonic amalgamation of the vengeful ghosts of Sadako Yamamura and Kayako Saeki. She was portrayed by Mizuki Yamamoto. The latest to do so involves two characters that we are all familiar with, whether you’ve seen them in their original Japanese films or their American remakes, Sadako (from “Ringu” or “The Ring”) vs. Kayako (“Ju-on” or “The Grudge”). I’ll be honest, I was really looking forward to seeing SADAKO VS KAYAKO.
R1: Kayako's curse is stronger since it can spread and affects people in proximity to someone who's cursed. She also isn't bound by the arbitrary seven days thing that Sadako does, and can kill immediately, so she wins that race. R2: Sadako is kind of a one trick pony. I doubt the drowning thing would work on Kayako since she's a ghost.

I got the sense that Sadako vs. Kayako didn't quite operate in the same universe as the original films. It's more like a universe where those films were part of an urban legend, and like all urban legends, the story changes depending on where you hear it. In the "canon" of Sadako vs. Kayako, the rules were always 2 days.
Even if horror tends to get a rather lukewarm reception, I would still love to think that there is some potential lurking around.
